Firstly, we sincerely hope you and your family remain safe and healthy in these extremely worrying times.

I write in respect of the business fee as we are asking all clients who miss any cleans to keep a record of them. We can then ensure you are refunded any business fees paid over this time for the cleans that have been missed.

As the cleaners work directly for you it is up to you whether you wish to retain their services at this time and we support wholly any decision you make. We also ask that you follow up to date government advice to keep both yourself and your family safe, as well as the cleaner.

The government advice is that people are being allowed to travel to and from work, but only where that work can not be done from home. This means that your cleaner can continue to clean for you should you wish, but that government guidelines on social distancing must obviously be observed.

Most of our clients are continuing with their cleaner, however others are asking that we put the cleaning on hold for the moment, which we are also very happy to do - we will support your wishes to the very best of our ability and will ensure that any of the missed cleans get either refunded or ‘banked’ – whichever you prefer, and we guarantee you will not lose out financially.

Both the cleaners and myself are self-employed. We are a small, local business and we will continue to do our best for both our clients and cleaners in these challenging times. Our office will be open as usual and we appreciate the continued support of all our valued clients.

In return we would like to offer our assistance, if any is needed, to all our clients at this very difficult time, and in particular to our older clients who may be self-isolating. If there is any help that we can provide in any way then please, just give us a call and we will do everything we can to help.

Tips for the big pre-christmas clean-out

With the big Christmas party just around the corner now is the perfect time to get yourself ready for the flood of family and friends and the havoc caused by cooking a Christmas meal. Check out these easy tips to get yourself ready for the incoming whirlwind. 

 

Kitchen 

If you are the host for Christmas this year, the likelihood is that the kitchen will be your home for a large part of this period. The kitchen isn’t just about cooking. It is important to stay healthy and hygienic. 

  • Clean your oven. One very important task before Christmas is cleaning out the oven. A dirty oven will contain small pieces of cremated food which will not only affect the taste of your food but can cause smoke, leaving an awful smell throughout the house.   • Fridge. The next most important thing to clean before the christmas period is the fridge. Christmas usually means a large influx of food into the house. A good practice is to go through the fridge and remove any out of date food, composting and recycling as much as possible. This will not only make it safer for the newer food going in but will also free up more room for wine and cheese!

 

Living room

After the kitchen, the next main room used by all will be the living room. Prior to the big day there are a few key areas of this room that you should clean. 

  • Carpets. There are two stages to cleaning the carpets before Christmas. The first stage is the deep clean. Even with thorough vacuuming there will still be dust and dirt deep into the carpet so we recommend getting a professional carpet cleaner. These are machines which will shampoo the carpet at the same time as lifting out any stuck in dirt and dust particles. The next step is to just stay on top of general vacuuming. If you regularly vacuum once a week consider doubling this during the festive period when there are many people around. 
  • The Tree. If you have a real fir tree then you will know the struggles of keeping the area clean. Falling pine needles can be difficult to stay on top of however if the area is prepared for them then maintenance is a very simple task. Add a blanket or sheet (blanket gives nicer look to the area) under the tree and around the area encompassing the tree. This means that every morning the corners can be lifted up towards the tree in the center and then simply vacuumed up using a thin attachment on the vacuum. 

 

Bathroom 

The most important area to keep clean in the house is the bathroom. Getting your bathroom as clean and hygienic as possible in the build-up to christmas means it will be easier to maintain once there are more people in the house using the room. After the deep clean a simple spray and wipe around everything once a day or once every two days should keep the room sufficiently clean.
